The 8th Annual Great Santa Run 5K was held on December 11 to support Operation Breakthrough in Kansas City. Operation Breakthrough is one of the largest single-site early education and social services facilities in the State of Missouri serving 400 children daily from urban areas.
Over 1,600 participants and their families enjoyed a delicious post-race breakfast prepared by Chef Jim Tinkham and the American Culinary Federation, Greater Kansas City Chefs. Tinkham is the President of the American Culinary Federation, Executive Chef at William Jewell College, and part of the Culinary Council at Fresh Ideas.
“Serving others during the holidays and throughout the year is important for our communities. Food is a fun way to bring people together while making a difference for people,” says Tinkham.
The mission of Operation Breakthrough is to provide a safe, loving, and educational environment for children in poverty and to empower their families through advocacy, emergency aid, and education. The Santa Run was held at the indoor facilities at Johnson County Community College.
